Applicability and using
Glazed wall tiles
Our glazed wall tiles can be used for interior as well as roofed exterior areas.
F10 single colored wall tiles
Our range of single-coloured wall tiles completes the program of Art Nouveau tiles.
All tiles are sharp-edged, thereby it´s possible to lay them with small joints. We recommend a maximum width of 2 millimetres.
Every tile is hand glazed, also the kilns are stacked by hand. While the firing-process the glazes become to be thin fluid so the glaze melts away and formed by hardening a play of colors. When laying the tiles you should heed a casual mix of them to get a fine balanced general view.
A typical effect of Art Nouveau tiles is the cracked glaze which accentuates the trancparency of the glaze. To use in the shower you may use poor cracked glazes.
Art Nouveau tiles
All our Art Nouveau tiles are manufactured in the same technology as turn of the 19th/ 20th century. Tublined and machine molded relief tiles played an important part of Art Nouveau tile production. These tiles have a smal convex bar on the plane surface, which like a dyke separates the glaze colors, so that they do not run into each other. The paintresses are applied to the coloured glaze with a slip trailer. We attach great importance to the fact that the motive, its plastic elaboration, the colors and the character agree with the antique tiles.
Our tiles are distinguishable from antique tiles by the Golem logo at the back and by the size of 15 x 15 cm.
Stoneware floor tiles
The material
Our high fired vitreous stoneware floor tiles have all good characteristics of robust stonware.
The scratch resistance surpass granit, they are acid-proof, the absorbtion of water is lower then 0,3 %, so they are frost-proof, slip rating R10 for high risk slip areas in public buildings.
These tiles are suitable for areas where heavy pedestrian traffic is prevalent.
They are absolut inured to all dirt but oil
Manufacturing method:
Floor tiles formed by the dust pressed method inwhich the finely milled raw materials are filled in molds at highpressure before firing. A relief of mosaik transferred thereby to the surface of the tile.
The colour of the pattern is solid to a thickness of approx. 4 mm. The producing of multi coloured floortiles happend overhead in a filling template witch looks like a form to press cookies, a form of endwise vertical sheet steel in the pattern of the tile. So you get differend divided fields to fill with the appropriate coloured claypowder, without mixing. After filling you pull out the template. The dividing line gets ist grany character. The loose powder is hydraulicaly compressed and then fired in the kiln. The result is a tile witch is not to exceed in its beauty and physicals properties. These tiles become ever more beautiful by use. We revived this ancient technology.
Range of applications:
Outside: terrace, balcony, garden-path, privat areas: corridors, kitchen, bathrooms, fire protected floors by the fireside, floor heating public areas where heavy pedestrian traffic is prevalent, shops and restaurants, churches and a lot more.
Laying:
Thin-bed to thick-bed. The grout line should be very fine, max. 2 mm to allow small dimensional differences.
Cleaning and protection:
Tiled surfaces should be washed down using either clean water or a nonabrasive, neutral (i.e. not acidic or alkaline) detergent. Dry off and polish with a clean dry cloth.
Stonware floor tiles are inured to all dirt but hot oil.
For the kitchen we advice a sealing e.g. Lithofin Stainstop >W<
Tiles for the restoration
Tiles we produce on standard , mostly do not suit to the old originals in situ because the measure fluctuations has been very large at that time and the tiles often were jointless laid.
We reproduce each of your tiles true to original.
At first we need the following details to make an offer:
1 colourphoto of the total area, the entire corridor
1 colourphoto (close-up) of a good tile - of each tile, which is to be restored,
Number of items you need,
Exact size of the tiles in millimeters.
When ordering we need an original tile as model.
