The main focus in our work
is the application of
traditional craft techniques.
GOLEM produces construction ceramics for the preservation and restoration of culturally valuable buildings. The main focus of our work ist the application of traditional craft techniques. This results in a visual overall picture with rough edges standing out from industrial standards – unique and shaped by the traces of craftsmanship. This applies to custom-made bricks, glazed components and sculptural terracottas as well as to the production of individual and historical tiles, which is another focus of our work.
In terms of building physics and with regard to frost resistance and compressive strength we meet the requirements of DIN 105.

Fields of work
For the renovation of old buildings, we cover the entire ceramic spectrum of historical shaped bricks.
Shaped bricks are, for example, bricks for window reveals, cornice bricks, tracery bricks and arched bricks. They are custom made according to their special purpose.
Typically, terracotta ranges in colour somewhere from red to reddish brown.
From shaped bricks for example, terracotta elements differ in size and the higher demand on artistic and craft skills during the manufacturing process.
Historically seen, ceramics and architecture are closely linked.
Horizontal cornices and vertical elements such as pilasters and columns, glazed facing bricks such as quarter pieces, split tiles, shaped bricks, nose stones and facing plates for external wall cladding, all of these are historical façade elements.

EXECUTION OF
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNS
Historically seen, architecture and ceramics are closely linked. Even with regards to the more strict aesthetic concepts of contemporary architecture, the design of façades continues to play an outstanding role. As we specialise in craft techniques, we can offer architects individual solutions for unusual and innovative designs.
